I just got a used Dell Latitude with one of those mSata drives in it and man that makes a big difference. Hardrives have been the slow piece in computers for a while now. That's my basic list I do pretty much every time I have a problem computer. Reboot so changes made in MSConfig take effect. Run a Malware scan (I like MalwareBytes and use a secondary if anything is found) - I like to do this after clearing the temp folder since the temp folder can have thousands of files that slow down the scanning here.Ħ. Open Event Viewer and check System logs for any hardrive errorsĥ. Clear out Windows temp folder: C:/window/tempĤ. Clear out User's temp folder in profile: c:/users//appdata/local/tempģ. Then go to the Startup tab and uncheck any programs that don't need to autostart. ![]() Run MSConfig and go to the services tab, check "Hide all Microsoft services", and then uncheck any services that don't need to autostart. ![]() Here's my standard list of steps I do: (Assuming this is Windows)ġ. ![]()
